In November I started a new job as a Senior Software Engineer at Lambda Labs. I am working on Lambda’s Cloud offerings which means I’ll be spending a lot more time with virtualization, Linux, GPUs, HPC, and software defined networking.
This is the first job I’ve had where I chose a Linux Laptop (Thinkpad X1 Carbon). My rationale: if the systems I’m deploying to all run on Linux, why not also build directly on Linux? At Planet, I used a MacBook and it caused all sorts of silliness developing for a Linux environment: e.g., psycopg2
vs psycopg2-binary
python packages and the biggest issue: Docker slowness. 2024 was quite literally the year of the Linux Laptop. I’m quite pleased with this decision so far =).
The team at Lambda is stacked with technical talent. I’m excited to see where we go together!
Lambda is making the best in class cloud platform for AI.
